Idaho Power — located in vibrant Boise, Idaho — is looking for a Human Resources (HR) Professional or Entry to join our Leaves of Absence and Accommodations team. What does a Human Resources Professional or Entry do for us?
The Leave and Accommodations HR Professional will play a key role in the management of our leave of absence and accommodations programs, while providing exceptional support to employees, managers, and cross functional partners. The successful candidate will oversee and administer leave requests and accommodations, particularly those arising under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and short-term or long-term disability plans. This role will also oversee driver eligibility tracking for commercial driver’s license (CDL)-licensed employees to ensure compliance with applicable US Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and guidance.
Key Responsibilities will include:
- Serve as a primary point of contact for leave requests, including FMLA and short-term disability, advising employees and managers on appropriate leave processes and policies
- Manage and track the leave administration process from initial notice through return to work, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements
- Manage and track employee ADA accommodation requests and cases
- Partner with HR, Legal, and Payroll to resolve complex leave-related issues and support operational improvements
- Collaborate with payroll to ensure employees’ pay and deductions while on leave are accurate.
- Maintain compliance with legal requirements, ensuring confidentiality of medical documentation and adherence to HIPAA regulations
- Stay up to date with regulations and laws related to employee leave of absence
- Maintain Driver Qualification files for commercial motor vehicle drivers, ensure commercial driver’s license and medical cards are valid and up to date for designated employees, coordinate annual driver’s certification of violations, and coordinate random drug and alcohol testing
- Analyze data and trends to identify areas for improvement and provide recommendations for process enhancements
- Develop and maintain accurate records and reports, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements
- Perform regular financial reviews of invoicing and billing to ensure accuracy
- Create and/or review physical requirements of positions ensuring accuracy of essential functions
- Present benefit and leave information and trainings to large audiences

A COMPETITIVE CANDIDATE WILL HAVE
Knowledge of:
- Federal and state leave laws, including FMLA, ADA, USERRA, and state-specific SDI and PFL regulations
- Benefits-related laws and regulations at the local, state, and federal level, including ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA, ACA
- US DOT regulations, familiarity with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) General Industry, and other applicable regulatory guidance
Preferred:
- Knowledge and/or experience managing the interactive ADA accommodation process
Skills in:
- Strong analytical skills with ability to interpret complex regulatory requirements, identify compliance risks, and implement appropriate solutions
- Interpersonal skills to support sensitive and confidential situations
- Microsoft Office Suite applications (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.) and Human Resource Information System (HRIS) platforms and leave management systems
Preferred:
- Experience with Workday Absence module
Ability to:
- Empathize and support employees during their leave periods
- Manage multiple tasks/projects and deadlines, with ability to plan, prioritize, and regularly improve processes
- Effectively summarize and present complex or unfamiliar information for a variety of audiences
- Think critically and solve problems both independently and collaboratively as needed
- Exercise strong judgment and decision making
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Entry Human Resources Professional:
Education:
OR
- Equivalent combination of formal education and experience
Preferred:
- Bachelor's degree or related certifications
Experience:
- 2 years of demonstrated experience in HR or a related field, such as legal, compliance, training, etc.
Preferred:
- 2 years of leave administration related experience
Licenses & Certifications:
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record based on driving requirements for the position
Human Resources Professional:
Education:

- Equivalent combination of formal education and experience
Preferred:
- Bachelor's degree or related certifications
Experience:
- 3 years of professional/advanced HR experience
Preferred:
- 3 years of leave administration related experience
Licenses & Certifications:
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record based on driving requirements for the position
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position requires working at a desk/computer for extended periods of time. It requires the use of office equipment, fine motor skills including typing on the computer, dialing phones, filing paper, and working in close proximity to other people.
