Scope
Boise Cascade is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Leave Coordinator I to join our leave team to deliver leave program administration. The ideal candidate will provide excellent service to both internal associates, HR teams and external vendors. This role will work of out of the Corporate HQ offices in Boise, ID and has some potential for remote work.
Responsibilities
The Leave Coordinator I works to administer all programs and policies related to employee leaves of absence including Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Short Term Disability (STD), state and local leave laws and company policies. Provides prompt, thorough, and friendly service to associates and appropriately handles confidential information.
- Manages all aspects of federal, state and company leaves and accommodations.
- Advises associates on the interaction of leave laws, paid and unpaid time off, short-term and long-term disability, and filing of leaves for workers’ compensation events.
- Work closely with HR teams and associates to align with organizational goals of delivering a strong associate experience in leave situations.
- Facilitate multiple forms of communication between associates, HR teams, and vendors to ensure a positive leave experience.
- Responsible for coordinating with Payroll to ensure that employee records and paychecks are accurate.
- Support associates with their questions on how the leave will work and coordinate with the various pay components.
- Provides regular, thorough, and proactive communication with Division HR teams regarding upcoming, current, and ending leaves of absence/accommodations.
- Coordinates information between associates and the Absence Management vendor; relays information to management and HR as appropriate.
- Assist in monitoring leaves, provide regular status reports and maintain metrics.
- Assists in the development of training content and communications related to leaves and accommodations and company policies. May draft or recommends policy revisions to ensure compliance.
- Ensure leave processes and procedures are compliant with federal, state and local regulations.
- May handle more complex leave cases requiring the use of sound judgment based on education, knowledge, skills, and prior experience, and liaise with the legal team as needed
- Maintains complete and accurate records of leaves and accommodations in accordance with specified legal requirements and documentation of best practices.
- Preserves confidentiality of sensitive information within records.
- Ensure that the return-to-work processes for personnel returning from extended leaves of absence, which may include accommodation requests, are managed successfully.
- Serve as member of the HR Services team; perform other tasks, related duties and special projects as directed.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in HR or leave management coordination.
- Knowledge of state and federal leave laws, workers’ compensation, and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) practices in a multi-state environment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
